Moment gunman, 21, storms into Florida Dollar General and slaughters three black people in racist attack using assault rifle with swastikas - as cops say his writings were the 'diary of a madman'

Terrifying video (bottom) shows the moment Ryan Palmeter entered the Jacksonville Dollar General armed with an AR-15 and then shot dead three people in a racially-motivated attack. Palmeter (top), 21, left behind a manifesto, which cops called the 'diary of a madman.' He used an assault rifle covered in Nazi swastikas in the deadly assault on Saturday before turning the gun on himself, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. The victims were a 52-year-old woman, Angela Michelle Carr and a 19-year-old Anolt Joseph "A.J." Laguerre Jr., and 29-year-old Jarrald De'Shawn Gallion. Sheriff T.K. Waters said the gunman 'hated black people' and 'wanted to kill 'n******'.' He described the shooting as a 'dark day in Jacksonville's history'. Both the rifle and handgun were legal and had been purchased legally, Waters said. The firearms dealers ― Wild West Guns and Orange Park Gun and Pawn — followed proper procedures in the sales, he added.

The View co-host Whoopi Goldberg issued an apology on Tuesday following backlash for repeating her claim in a recent interview that the Holocaust wasn't about race. The Oscar-winning actress was suspended from The View in February for saying the Holocaust was not about race, but rather 'white on white' violence and 'man's inhumanity to man' - and the TV personality was told in advance not to discuss the daytime talk show. Goldberg readily repeated her controversial comments last week, when it was pointed out that the Nazis certainly believed the Holocaust was about race. On Tuesday, she apologized, saying that it was 'never my intention to appear as if I was doubling down on hurtful comments, especially after talking with and hearing people like rabbis and old and new friends weighing in.'
